Barbara Holtz has more than 20 years marketing, consulting, and public relations experience in New England and California. Specializing in business, trade and broad cast media as well as media training for executives, she has also successfully served as liaison between clients and industry analysts as well as venture capitalists. Her healthcare clients include: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Amgen, Wyeth/Genetics Institute, and Domain Pharma.

For Dana-Farber, she co-edits, writes and produces an award-winning, quarterly patient advocacy newsletter that is distributed to cancer patients and families nationwide. For Amgen, she raised awareness of Hepatitis C symptoms, precautions and treatment, by publicizing consumer seminars in eight U.S. markets.

In the technology sector she served Analog Devices, managing announcements of major integrated circuit (IC) and digital signal processor (DSP) products having telecommunications applications. In addition, she managed national launches for inc.com, a destination site for entrepreneurs and small business owners; SwiftTouch, an application services provider for voice and email via wireless Web; and BountyQuest, a ”human search engine” for academics, scientists and researchers seeking hard-to-find information in the high-tech and biotech arenas.

Ms. Holtz worked for Edelman PR Worldwide’s Global Technology Practice in Palo Alto, CA and Boston, MA. While at Edelman, she managed product roll-outs, media relations, trade show demonstrations, and executive PR programs for clients such as Hayes Microcomputer Products, Kyocera, Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation, and Philips Professional Solutions. In addition, she was closely involved with short-term marketing and PR programs on behalf of Lucent Technologies and Ericsson.

Prior to Edelman, Ms. Holtz was with Miller Shandwick Technologies (now Weber Shandwick Worldwide), where she executed media relations programs for clients such as Mitsubishi Electronics America, Network Computing Inc. (acquired by Seagate), and inquiry.com. Additional clients included: SiliconValley-based companies such as Intel Corporation, MediaVision, Echelon Corporation, and McAfee Associates.

Ms. Holtz began her communications career at Digital Equipment Corporation managing marketing communications, public relations and marketing programs for the company’s Large Computer, Software Products, and Educational Services groups. During that time, she wrote, edited and published sales force and customer magazines, wrote and produced customer application stories, created executive A/V presentations, and initiated a product line PR program to raise awareness for educational products.

She is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, Dana-Farber’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), the MIT New Enterprise Forum, and is engaged in publicity and funcraising for a number of Boston-area organizations.

Barbara C. Holtz was graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. in English Literature, from Boston College with an M.A. in Special Education, and from Northeastern University, with an M.B.A. in Marketing.
